About the Teaching Artist

Zekiah Smith, born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, began his dance journey at the age of 17 at F.I.R.E Expressions Performing Arts Conservatory (PARC Village). His most notable performances include the role of the African King in Roots (2024) directed by Grace Hamilton-Mayfield, and Preservation (2024) artistically directed by Leigha Porter.

Zekiah’s teaching style is encouraging and empowering, helping dancers build confidence from the ground up. This class focuses on beginner heels choreography — perfect for anyone ready to explore movement with personality, poise, and power.
